Profile: Simon Schwarz is an Executive Director at Adexum Capital, a private equity fund manager investing growth capital into Australian and NZ based companies. He holds a BSc (Advanced) (Hons I, Medal) from the University of Sydney (1998) a Masters of Applied Finance from Macquarie University Applied Finance Centre (2003) and an MBA (Exec) from the Australian Graduate School of Management, University of New South Wales (2014).
Simon has strong expertise in finance, governance and risk management, as Honorary Fellow (since 2014) and member of the Risk Advisory Group at the Macquarie University Applied Finance Centre where he co-authored the Master’s level Financial Risk Management course and lecturers in Financial Risk Management and Professional Practice;
a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (since 2014) and the Risk Management Association (Australia) (since 2011); a Certified Treasury and Finance Professional with the Finance & Treasury Association (since 2007); and was previously the Head of Credit and Head of Investment Committee with executive responsibility for the Board Australia Risk & Capital Committee at Investec Bank (Australia) Limited.
Simon is currently a member of the Advisory Panel of ASX-listed zipMoney Limited, and was previously the Chief Operating Officer at SocietyOne Australia Pty Limited. Simon is also a member of the Development Committee of the Menzies School of Health Research, a school within Charles Darwin University’s Institute of Advanced Studies.
This qualification prepares individuals for roles where they will apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of service industry contexts. Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements. Graduates will have learnt to plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources.
The course consists of four (4) core and eight (8) elective units of competency selected within the packaging rules of this qualification. These units have been clustered into five modules. Virtu has designed this BSB51915 Diploma of Leadership and Management through consultations with industry and the Benevolent Society.

This qualification is nationally recognised and can only be delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) such as Virtu Business Institute that complies with the governing standards of quality control and quality training and assessment. Upon completion of the course assessments a successful student will be awarded a BSB51915 Diploma of Leadership and Management. Students who exit the training program without completing all assessments will be issued with a statement of attainment for those units in which they have demonstrated competency. Graduates with this qualification often occupy a managerial role and most often have a suitable title reflecting this role within most commercial sectors.

This module provides knowledge, tools and resources to manage budgets, use commercial acumen to deliver on financial plans and achieve performance outcomes.
