  • This course/qualification provides the skills and knowledge required to perform interior design and decoration for building interiors. Design and decoration at this level covers the development of complete decorative schemes for the effective use of residential and commercial or institutional interior spaces, working with a client brief and within project parameters. It may also include specialist design areas such as facilities for people with disabilities and the aged.

It is intended for those who already hold a LMT41007 Certificate IV in Applied Fashion Design and Technology or another similar qualification, or for those who are already working in the industry and have accumulated equivalent knowledge and skills in Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing.
  • This course/qualification provides the skills and knowledge required for creative and technical solutions for built interior environments. Interior design at this level covers the planning and detailing of complex residential, commercial and institutional design projects with an emphasis on space creation, space planning and the factors that affect peoples' responses to living and working environments.
  • This course/qualification reflects the role of graphic designers who have a command of wide-ranging, highly specialised technical, creative and conceptual skills and knowledge in visual communication. These skills allow designers to conceive, negotiate and realise design concepts for complex projects using sophisticated communication, organisational and project management skills. They may take responsibility for the work of others in terms of establishing and monitoring systems to ensure the effective production of work.
  • The qualification LMT60703 Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Technology is designed to be an advanced level qualification in technical, management and design skills within fashion enterprises. The course is designed for those working in or wishing to work as a fashion designer. It is intended for those who already hold a LMT50307 Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Technology or another similar equivalent qualification
  • This course is written in partnership with The Benevolent Society as part of their internal professional development program for their management team. This qualification prepares individuals to better perform in their management roles. Learners will apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and service industry contexts. Specific to the Benevolent Society’s need there is a particular focus on communication skills, workplace relationships, teams and talent, quality and risk management.
  • This qualification prepares individuals for the role where they will apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements. Graduates will have learnt to plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources.
  • This qualification prepares individuals for various job titles including executive officers, program consultants and program coordinators. Individuals in these roles may possess substantial experience in a range of business settings, but seek to further develop their skills across a wide range of business functions. The qualification may also apply to those with little or no vocational experience, but who possess sound theoretical business skills and knowledge that they would like to develop in order to create further educational and employment opportunities.
  • This Diploma course covers current workers or those who wish to work in children's services being responsible for planning, implementing and managing programs in early childhood services, in accordance with licensing, accreditation and duty of care requirements of the industry and professions. The course has a nominal duration of between 9 to 18 months depending on a student’s study commitment. The study period may vary if the student has already attained a CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or can demonstrate equivalency.

Profile: Kevin McConkey is Emeritus Professor of Psychology at the University of New South Wales. He holds a BA (Hons), 1976, and a PhD in Psychology, 1980, from the University of Queensland. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program, Harvard Business School, 2004. He is an Honorary Fellow (since 2005) and former President of the Australian Psychological Society (1993-1994), a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia (since 1996), and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (since 2002).
Kevin has long-standing experience in corporate governance and senior management roles across tertiary education organisations, including the University of New South Wales (Head, School of Psychology [1993-1999] and President, Academic Board [1999-2004]) and the University of Newcastle (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic [2006-2008] and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Global Relations [2009-2012]). He has undertaken consultancies for public and private tertiary education organisations in Australia and overseas on governance and management, strategic planning, financial management, employee relations, administrative effectiveness and efficiency, and international education.

Profile: Professor Carl Wonder is an accomplished professional with over 22 years of industrial experience. He recently joined Virtu Design Institute as the Business Program Leader and Lecturer. He has 5 years of Academic experience and holds an MBA from the University of Derby UK, TAE40110 Certificate IV Training and Assessment, NVQ D32 Assessor & Verifier Award (UK) amongst his qualifications.

Professor Carl Wonder left Zimbabwe in 1993 to begin his studies in the UK where he lived and worked for 15years. He worked for various leading companies in the UK where most of his achievements were in setting up and developing businesses for a range of companies.

Professor Wonder relocated to Mongolia in 2008 to begin his academic career with Raffles College of Design & Commerce where he ended up as a Senior Business Lecturer. In 2011, he joined Royal International Institute (Mongolia) as an Academic Director and Senior Business Lecturer. Whilst in Mongolia, Professor Wonder trained several corporations in marketing and management strategies.

The then Carl Wonder was conferred with Professor Honoris Causa title by Ikh Zasag International University in recognition for his valuable contribution to the setting up and development of Royal International Institute. He was commented for his outstanding initiatives to strengthen and develop Mongolian education community to become globally competitive and locally engaged.

Professor Wonder also worked as a newspaper editor and Business Columnist for UB Post a Mongolian National newspaper and Royal Television Station (Mongolia) at the International News Desk.

Professor Wonder was involved in various international projects including South Africa Revenue Services (SARS) where he was one of the invited International Business Experts between 2010 and 2011. The project’s primary objective was to reform the business registration system in South Africa by integrating the existing business registration systems concerned with primary business registration. He returned to Zimbabwe in 2013 where he has been involved in various projects of setting up and marketing businesses as well as reading news on the national television (ZTV).

Profile: Miriam Gelbart has worked in the Early Childhood field for over 30 years, and holds the qualifications: B.A, Diploma of Education, and Diploma of Early Childhood Education.

Her most recent roles have been as Director and Teacher of Early Childhood Services, where she led teams in Pre-Schools and Long Daycare Centres. She has also had experience in lecturing in the early childhood field at Colleges of Pre-School and has worked as a validator and childcare advisor with National Childcare Accreditation Council.

Her roles in the Early Childhood Sector have included responsibility for the overall day to day running of the Pre-Schools and Long Daycare Centres, guidance to the Board of Management on compliance with licensing regulations, teaching and ensuring the environment was in keeping with Centre philosophy, Child Protection, Policies, Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards.

As an experienced Pre-School Educator she has mentored and lead her educators, staff, families to create an environment filled with wonder and delight, enabling children to take risks and explore.

As educational leader she was integral in guiding and preparing her team through the process of achieving Accreditation of the centre to the National Accreditation body ACECQA. She is a skilled manager and has maintained and encouraged strong communication between all staff/educators and with the Board of Management. As well as this she was on the committee of a local Network Directors group that met quarterly to further professional development.

Miriam is committed to and passionate about continued high quality childcare for all children . She feels very strongly about empowering future educators through knowledge, learning , professional development, reflection and further education which will provide children with a foundation for growth and learning and give them the best experiences in Early Childhood to set them up for life.

Rola is an Early Childhood Development Teacher who recognizes that the first few years of a child’s life are highly formative and influential.

Rola also leads continuing education and is highly organized and driven. Profile: Tanya Dove is well versed in all aspects of fashion design education and is equally as comfortable delivering a lecture as guiding learners in technical workshop classes. Ms Dove delivers her classes with a passion for the Industry, willing to share over and above knowledge to students within the subjects, using a multitude of delivery materials: – from presentations, demonstrations and 1-1 guidance.

Tanta Dove’s skills set range from advanced technical knowledge in the total construction of garments, to CAD and presentation skills. Her links with industry, as a creative director building a new lingerie brand based in China has enhanced her abilities to guide learners in industry requirements for when they leave education. Ms Dove motivates classes by adapting to the learners level of interest, always having an alternative method of delivery to keep their attention span high to achieve the best results from the class.

With over 6 years experience in education, from being Fashion Design Program Manager and Academic Director of various important schools she is active in evaluating, improving and moderating student works.

Tanya Dove’s interests lie in curriculum development, looking into different accredited degree programs for how their course structure is delivered, to analyze and evaluate how to improve and achieve the idealistic fashion design qualification.

Ms Dove is also active in researching and analyzing how the market place is changing for new designers and how these changes can be implemented within fashion design classes to enhance the learners experience while in education, and to prepare them with a wider diversity of skill set for entering the fashion industry.

Active in the marketing aspect of fashion education, Ms Dove has hosted seminars, delivered papers, judged ompetitions and set up numerous collaborations with Industry professionals ands recently authored two fashion books: A Technical Foundation, showing the processes of women’s wear pattern making, and Concept to Creation – The Design Process.

Profile: Ms Rachel Hawkins graduated with a Bachelor of Design, majoring in Graphics and Textiles from the College of Fine Arts, The University of New South Wales in 2006. A strong believer in continuing education, she then went on to study a Masters of Cross-Disciplinary Art and Design, completely online, graduating from College of Fine Arts, The University of New South Wales in 2012. Rachel brings to Virtu this wealth of knowledge and experience in online study platforms and online collaboration. In 2012, Rachel also attained the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, adding LLN in 2013.

Ms Hawkins’ professional career began in the graphic design department of Sydney based fashion house, Jets Swimwear, from there she went on to work in commercial digital design and print in Vancouver, Canada.

On her return to Sydney, Ms Hawkins moved into senior design roles at entrepreneurial companies leading graphic design with a strong marketing focus; working with high profile brands such as: Sydney Water, AMP Capital, Centro Properties Group, GPT, Starlight Children’s Foundation, Lilydale Chickens and Bodytrim. Ms Hawkins is an experienced product and packaging designer with product ranges in Coles Supermarkets and Priceline stores.

During the last eleven years in the industry Ms Hawkins’ creative and conceptual capabilities have seen her undertake projects in product design, packaging design, corporate identity, advertising, marketing, signage and web based campaigns.

Profile: Anna began her studies at The London College of Fashion with foundation studies in Art and Design, where her passion for fabric design and fashion began. Following completion of her Art Foundation course she went on to complete a Bachelors degree with honors in Fashion and Textile Design with Business Studies at Brighton University in the UK.

Majoring in knitwear design Anna’s professional career began in New York where she went to work for TSE and American Eagle Outfitters.

Following this time working in New York Anna went on to work for Zegna Baruffa in Italy, Ted Baker in London and more recently Banjo and Matilda in Sydney.

Always passionate about education and about fostering creativity, Anna began teaching at Billy Blue and at the Australian Institute of Creative Design in 2014, and more recently joined the training staff at Virtu Institute of Design.

Anna currently teaches part time and is working on launching her own children’s label “Letters from Leo”.
